Passions is a daytime drama known for its supernatural plot lines. Yesterday there was this matter-of-fact dialogue between the wealthy heir Fox Crane and the naive, new-to-humanity Siren, who keeps forgetting she can’t let anyone find out she’s actually a mermaid:
Fox: Are your parents hippies?
Siren: No. Guppies.

I was recently asked to speak on a panel of “allies†to the LGBT community. The panel’s focus was about how straight people could support LGBT families, by hearing first-hand from heterosexual allies. I declined.
