Coming out, more and more

When I first came across Two World Collision 18 months ago, it was a very different blog than it is today. It was about a Christian man trying to reconcile his same-sex attraction — a man, who it turns out, also had a father who was gay (married and closeted). While our life experiences and opinions seemed to have little overlap, I added him to Oversampled — since Oversampled’s purpose is not to collect only views that reflect mine, of course!

As I have followed Eric’s posts, I have had the pleasure of witnessing the once-elusive blogger come out bit by bit — sharing more about his life, finding encouragement in stranger-turned-friend commentors, and gaining the courage to post his photo and now, his last name. He’s been interviewed on podcasts and print media, and most recently attended a conference about survivors of the ex-gay movement. He has posted about the ordeal of trying to be a good straight Christian here.

Being anonymous at the beginning allowed Eric who felt judged by his faith (or rather members of it) to ask questions boldly and then find the answers for himself. Slowly, in this place where his worlds of gay and Christian collided, his blogger self and his real-life self are also colliding. Only, this collision is by choice.

“I may not be perfect but I am whole.”

Congratulations, Eric Leocadio!
