My Exit Interview
Bay Windows has a Q & A with me about the state of the queerspawn nation, in light of my formal departure.
A place at the table
by Susan Ryan-Vollmar
Since the interview wraps up with a story about (not) having a blog to respond to media, I would be remiss to not take this blog opportunity to correct one inaccuracy: the final story that took place in 1997 was a panel sponsored by Minnesota Rainbow Families, not Family Pride.
Also, I want to clarify what I meant when I told the Bay Windows editor that she’s “a bad example” — lest anybody interpret that as me saying she is a bad example for gay parents. I meant that when she set up her question which referred to herself as a typical clueless parent, I wasn’t buying it. If she were indeed the clueless parent as she was implying, she would not have approached me for the interview in the first place — or at least she would have given it a headline like, “Ungrateful Queerspawn Grinds Ax.”
