My grandma’s brother is a Bible-thumping homophobe.
I typically don’t name names in my writing when it comes to my relatives.
But when one of them uses a newspaper to share his homo-hostility with the public, well, I figure that’s fair game.
So behold: Uncle Fritz.
Anybody in Sheboygan? How ’bout writing a commentary about how anti-gay “family values” rhetoric leads people to forsake their own families?
I characterize that attitude as, “It’s not me who’s an ass. I’d be good-hearted if it were up to me - but God is an ass, so what can you do?” Which, frankly, looks like a pretty bold slander, and not one I’d want to explain to the face of the Being in question.
Couldn’t agree with you more there Jade.
I’d rather be “Bible-thumping” than be spouting my own limited knowledge and God is not someone to be challenged with our finite minds.
Btw, He is a good God and if we genuinely seek His ways and follow what Jesus taught, then we as Christians will also learn to show love towards all kinds of people without passing hurtful judgement.
It sucks to be around an ass, but a ‘Christian-ass’ just ain’t appealing either.
