Twee Vaders (”Two Fathers”)

Imagine: A teen singing about having “two real fathers” who can “both be my mom” and being surrounded by other kids who join in the chorus.

To anyone in the U.S. who thinks our country is the leading country in LGBT acceptance: how soon will we see something like this video in English? Oh, and I mean something that won’t get yanked off the air under the government’s threat to pull funding.

Warning: Side effects of viewing this video may include uncontrollable cheering and/or watering eyes. In extreme cases, involuntary whistling and humming persisted for several hours.

I can’t get this song out of my head. This little video has restored some of my faith in humanity. It’s great that at least SOMEWHERE in this world, love matters more than dogma. Truly inspirational!

I am American, and i believe that this is a wonderful, sweet video. This kid loves his two fathers, and who can blame him? Who can tell him or anyone that it is wrong to have a family like this. Now im glad there is subtitles or i wouldnt understand it haha, but it is very touching. I am all for this kid and every kid who is goin through this! oh and i love the warning label…haha you must always read those haha!

After seeing this i HAD to do research about Denmark. I am SO moving their after my Collage years, getting a nice career and settling down.

This song is not Danish, it’s Dutch.

I cried from the moment I heard him start singing, the fact that he loves his fathers and that they love him just as much as anyone could is sooo beautiful. If this sort of thing was everywhere around the world we would have such a better world. America did it to the black and once the blacks had finally broken free of opression it seemed america and the Gay-hating Chritians (only those that hate gays, i know there are many that think they have the same rights as us to love and life) turned their attentio to homosexuals. I just wish we could hurry up and accept them.

I first seen this video on a friends Multiply site and after seeing it and trying to stop my tears i wrote all the English lyrics and made a Multiply and a Xanga blog with a link to this article and the video itself as well as displaying the text for this video!

I wish we in the US can produce this as a message for all the worlds and its political governments

At the EuroGames 2007 in Antwerp, another young lad, slightly older than Terrence Uphoff, sings the same song. The Dutch lyrics are identical (I think), but the subtitled translation is slightly different.

(This song was, as far as I can tell, originally written specifically for Terrence and is about his own family situation: it names his dads.)

Oh, and there’s the Sims version, if you want a laugh:

I live in the Netherlands. This song was sung in a very normal show watched by thousands of children. The only thing that crossed my mind when I first saw this on tv was “Good song” and that was all. It’s so weird to see all these (extreme) reactions spread on the internet. It makes me realize how progressive/liberate my country is compared to others.

I agree with Naigel. I’m Dutch, but I live in te US now (since August). A professor showed this video to us in class and I was amazed by the reactions of the my fellow students. Since this is very normal to me.

i like others have seen this young man ,and i find there is a deep feeling in the song .the way he put out his feelings has a lot of true people wishing he were here to let others truely know that no matter who we are ,or what life we chose to live there is love that can only be share as this young man has shown in the song.and for him to have twee vaders (two fathers ) that has given of them self so greatly.i could just hug these twee vaders to the limit.love be with this young man,and may he be TO the greatest part of his life with that love ,and understanding.i wish that i could bring a life in this world to share the same love his twee vaders have, but here in this contry it,s unthinkable.some time one wonders whats so great about the good old U S A .love be with all

A wonderful and extremely touching song. Too bad there’s no Spanish subtitles but I could understand it pretty well in English and made me remember when I was in The Netherlands a long long time ago.
I know a few Catholic Church authorities who should listen the song and stop condemning “gay adoption”. What matters is love.

This is so sweet and beautiful. I’m and American dancer and I have many gay friends. This year, my school got our first male Flag Twirler for the school Flag Corps. I have the priviledge of marching next to him as he holds the American Flag. He is a true inspiration, just as the boy who sings this song is. They are heros in my opinion. (And the boy is a brilliant singer too!) ^-^

I accidentally came across here after viewing the clip at youtube.com.

It’s true that the clip means something to me, and indeed to the world. It messages respect of homosexuality, but also love.

Love is the thing which should have no limitation / condition in whatever aspects, no matter the genders, ages, races, money, etc.

Love is supposed to be as pure as unicorn’s blood and as beautiful and holy as phoenix in legends.

I think I am going to write an article in my own website in respect of this video clip combining matter of love within these few days. Wish you may visit, comment and share.
