Queerspawn Pride 2006

Queerspawn? Isn’t that term offensive? you might ask. (And you did ask, several times, at Pride this weekend as I walked around wearing a queerspawn t-shirt.)

It’s not offensive to me. It’s a quick way to identify ourselves and find each other, especially at community events. It’s an option, although the term is not embraced by every offspring who was conceived, adopted or raised by one or more parental units who expressed or acted upon an attraction that they now or at one time had with another adult of the same gender and/or expressed themselves outside of the culturally-constructed binary of gender identity. (But try fitting that on the hood of a minivan.)

Calling me an “ally,” however….now that’s offensive.
