Here is my review of the book Same Sex in the City by Lauren Blitzer and Lauren Levin. The end of my review wrapped up more like an outline of what should be covered in a book that claims to be a guide for the newly-out lesbian — basically everything this book lacks.

    Thank you.

This (once again) confirms my suspicions that The L Word is ruining lesbian culture.

You don’t see all straight folks emmulating the folks on “As The World Turns,” yet from the moment The L Word began, lesbians have been running out getting “Shane” haircuts and modifying their wardrobe to match the “ideal” touted on that show.

If the “ideal” involves cheating money-hungry superficial lesbians, count me out.

Well said! This point you made is particularly right on: “For this ancient thirty-something, however, I can’t help but recognize a coming-out process I’ve seen countless times before: mimicking whatever gay images are most accessible. It’s a process of trying to become what you think you are supposed to be before settling into your own skin.”

    Um I’m 17 and I totally agree!
