Babywearing Rocks!

Here is Auntie Abigail bonding with a three-week-old infant.

Abigail Garner with a Cuddly Wrap baby

After spending a week with my Best Friend, her family and their newborn, I am a true believer in “babywearing.” I learned about the “how-to’s” from Oversampled contributer, Paxye, who has her own business focused on babywearing.

Paxye makes these wraps look so awesome and fun on her site, I decided to get one as a baby gift for Best Friend. I can’t over-emphasize the ease and convenience it afforded us. We ditched the standard stroller and zipped around the grocery store, spent a couple hours in a museum (where most people didn’t even notice a child was attached to Best Friend’s front), and walked to the park with the baby’s three-year-old brother.

Best Friend wrote in a recent email: “I accidentally left the Cuddly Wrap in the other car yesterday and I was so bummed not to have it. It goes a long way toward alleviating some of my anxieties about how to handle having both boys at the same time.”

I highly recommend babywearing, especially for non-bio parents seeking ways to accelerate bonding.

Oh, and the compliments! Everybody is charmed when they notice the little one who is so contently tucked away.

True dat (sorry we’ve been wathcing The Wire). I appreciate the mention of how helpful baby carriers are to non-bio parents. We tried out many baby carriers, my wife preferred the maya wrap, and we both loved the Ergo as a front or back carrier. And it’s SO much easier than a stroller in any crowded place.
