How slow of a news day does it have to be for a newspaper in Arkansas to publish an article about why gay boys love watching the “Golden Girls?”

Yes, a reprint of Jaime Bruerger’s article that I mentioned in an earlier post was reprinted in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. (Registration required; visit BugMeNot for access options)

For Arkansas readers, the article was retitled: “Fans still follow TV’s 4 offbeat Golden Girls.”

By “Fans” they mean “Gay Men” and by “offbeat” they mean “kinda-gayish.”

Update, March 9, 2006: Another article sighting in a more likely spot: Orange County Register. In this headline, the selected code word for “the gays” is simply “many.” See article: “For many, TV’s ‘Girls’ is still golden” (Registration required. Here are access options for the currently unregistered.)

One Response to “Article on gay icons published in unlikely newspaper.”

Now I’m confused. I sort of like watching The Golden Girls. Does that make me sort of gay? Besides, Christopher Lloyd (Jim Ignakowski on “Taxi”) was an exec producer and writer for that show, and he played a Klingon in Star Trek III. Klingons aren’t gay.
