Esera Tuaolo and Abigail Garner in Studio One at KFAI

Last night’s broadcast of Fresh Fruit is temporarily archived until March 9th on the KFAI website.

My guests:

Esera Tuaolo, author of Alone in the Trenches (co-written by John Rosengren); to be released in March from Sourcebooks. The above photo is Esera and me when he came into the studios to record the interview on Tuesday.

Jennifer Chrisler, Executive Director of Family Pride Coalition. Jennifer responds to the bills being introduced in 16 states to limit or ban fostering/adoption by LGBT people. This is news LGBT families have been following for quite a while, but it hit mainstream consciousness via an article this week in USA Today. (See: “Drives to ban gay adoption heat up in 16 states” by Andrea Stone.) I also ask a few questions about the White House Egg Roll that went from being a community secret on a “below radar” page on Family Pride’s website to a question posed in the White House Briefing Room.

    Hi Abigail

I have a new email address, and an essay up on MOMbo.org

Thanks for another great Fresh Fruit.

Great to see you at the In My Shoes screening. My son LOVED the film and wants to share it at school. (I was thrilled and was trying to stay really low key to not let my positive response color his.) I think the inclusion of that kid who looked the youngest was a really nice part of the film for him. My guess is that he could relate best to that kid.

When we got home, my son wanted my partner and his sister to see the film right away so we sat down and watched it again (I had fortunately already purchased a couple of copies from COLAGE before they got the contract with the distribution company).

take care and thanks for all you do.

    Betty
