Esera Tuaolo on “Fresh Fruit” this week
Coming up on Thursday’s show: Esera comes in to the KFAI studios to chat with me about his book, Alone in the Trenches (co-written by John Rosengren).
Esera knew he was gay while playing in the NFL, but didn’t dare come out — his career and his physical safety were at stake. In his new book, Esera recounts his journey, from growing up on a banana plantation in Hawaii to playing in the NFL to his current status as “Big Daddy” raising two young children with his life partner Mitchell.
“Fresh Fruit” is a program for the LGBT community which airs every Thursday at 7:00-8:00pm (Central Time). Each weeks has a different host and theme. My week is the fourth week, during which I feature guests who discuss family and relationships with queer angles. Programs are archived on the KFAI website for two weeks after the air date.
