The “critics” who matter most

How do you measure how a film about kids of gay parents has been received by an audience? By the applause? By the occasional tear rolling down a face? By the “hmmmm’s” and “humph’s” they spontaneously express after a particularly poignant comment on screen?
I think this is really all you need: In a room full of grown-ups during the post-film discussion, a middle school student raises her hand and asks, “How do I get this film shown at my school?”
