From a straight mother who heard Saturday’s show:

I listened to the radio show streaming over the Internet here in Arizona. I am so glad that [Amity Pearce Buxton] had a chance to read the newspaper article [she had written about the impact of the closet on straight spouses]; it said a lot. And I was also thrilled to hear from Abigail. If I understand correctly, she is a daughter of a gay man. I am trying to be like she said her mother was. And now that I hear how well Abigail is doing, I know my two boys are going to be ok also. Thank you again so much for representing all of us on the radio.

When I first heard about Brokeback Mountain, I was mad and I was mad to hear [Heath] Ledger will probably be nominated for an award but after hearing this broadcast, I am very happy this subject is coming out in the open. Just like Abigail said, my ex will never know from me what devastation he has created but he will from others if we can get all this out in the open. I haven’t seen the movie yet; even after 7 years I am not sure if I can handle opening my emotional Pandora’s box yet.

Any other spouses or kids care to comment on what this movie (or the discussions surrounding it) brings up for them?
