Adult “bothie” challenges “normal.”
Seattle’s alternative paper The Stranger recently published a commentary, “You’re Not Normal and Neither Are Your Kids” by Noel Black, the grown son of a lesbian mother and gay dad. (Black is also one of the sons included in my book, “Families Like Mine.”)
Black writes:
[Y]es, some of your children’s problems will have to do with your sexuality…No matter how proud your children are of you (which isn’t their job), they still share the enormous burden of rampant homophobia.
Please note: While I loathe giving “warnings” about an opinion piece by any queerspawn who has the courage to speak up, be advised that Black uses blunt language that some people would label “offensive.”
