Today is the official release of the paperback edition of Families Like Mine.

A new look. A new afterward. A new price. The same candid insight and advice.

View the official description on the HarperCollins website and check out additional background information on my site.

Please help spread the word. Tell your friends. Tell your book club. Tell your professors. Link it on your blog.

And please: Alert your local bookstores.

I can’t tell you how many people write me and say, “I went to the bookstore to buy your book, but I didn’t see it there. I was too uncomfortable to ask a sales clerk, so I just left.” Bookstores order certain titles only when they are confident customers will buy them. Please ask for the book in your local store. You don’t have to commit to buying another copy. Just tell them it’s a book that you think should be available in your community, and it is more likely to be on the shelf the next time a “less-out” person walks in looking for resources.

Asking a bookseller or library about a book with the word “gay” in the title is an act of social change.
